MOON

What Does It Mean?

It seems possible that “moon” started to become commonly used during the bull-run of 2017. That is when Bitcoin broke $20 000. For the very first time in the cryptocurrency’s multi-coloured history it seemed possible that the price would continue moving up until it reached the moon. But we cannot pinpoint the exact first use of the term.

Bullish crypto enthusiasts on social media platforms use “moon” together with rocket emojis to depict a dramatic increase in price. So if a crypto is “going to the moon,” it means that they expect the digital asset to continue to rise in value dramatically. You could also use “moon” as a verb. So you could hear someone say that their choice crypto is “mooning.”

Moon Art

The art depicts a stylised moon at the top left or right of the canvas, with a rocket aimed directly at it. The rocket visualises the crypto owner’s wish that it’s value will continue to increase dramatically, as a rocket travels to it’s target at full thrust.

In anticipation of quick profits, the trending candlestick pattern follows the upward movement of the rocket. However, it is unrealistic to expect the pattern to always be upward. It will trend sideways or even down at times. As long as the overall direction is up. So the wise crypto mooner, will look at the bigger picture by zooming out to longer time frames. Just like when you zoom out to see a real rocket moving.

The crypto hodler asks the question “Moon when?”. In other words when will the value reach the dizzying heights of his or her expectations and dreams. They hope that it will be sooner rather than later. Did they choose well? Is this the one that will rocket their investment to the moon? Only time will tell.
